Jose Pedraza vs. Mikkel LesPierre: Full Results
Top Rank Boxing’s summer season continues tonight with Puerto Rico’s Jose Pedraza (26-3, 13 KO) taking on the USA’s Mikkel LesPierre (22-1-1, 10 KO) in a super lightweight contest featuring as the evening’s main event. The six-fight card will start at 8 pm (ET) and takes place inside the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pedraza is a former two-division titleholder, who has held straps at 130 and 135. The 31-year-old’s losses have come at the hands of Gervonta Davis, Vasiliy Lomachenko, and, most recently, Jose Zepeda. He is the favorite going into tonight’s bout as while LesPierre only has one blemish on his record—a unanimous decision loss to Maurice Hooker— he has never really hit the highest peaks of the sport.
The night’s co-main event is a super featherweight bout between Albert Bell (16-0, 5 KO) and Mark Bernaldez (20-3, 14 KO). Bell is seen as a rising prospect and he should be a a couple of levels above Bernaldez whose three losses have all come whenever the 26-year-old has fought outside of his home turf of the Philippines.
Fans of Samoan-New Zealand boxers such as David Tua and Joseph Parker, will want to keep an eye out for heavyweight Patrick Mailata (4-0, 2 KO) when he takes on Kingsley Ibeh (4-1, 4 KO). The 25-year-old made a move from New Zealand to Las Vegas in 2019 after signing with Epic Sports and Entertainment.
The powerfully built Mailata is looking to make waves in the heavyweight division. Tonight’s outing against Ibeh should give fans a better understanding of how far he could climb.
