UFC superstar Conor McGregor has astonishingly claimed he carried boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather, on the third anniversary of their mega-money cross over fight. McGregor took to social media earlier to make the claim while simultaneously wishing his former rival a happy retirement, he wrote.

“3 years ago today I carried Floyd for his final boxing match. Wow time flies when you’re stacking cheddar. Happy retirement champ 😉.”

Mayweather is officially retired but has spoken about making a comeback recently.

“We’re working on some things right now for Tokyo, whether 2020 or 2021.”

Unfortunately for MMA fans ‘Money’ shut down talk of him transitioning to the sport once and for all, he said.

“No [I won’t compete in MMA]. I think just like how winning teams receive home-field advantage in the playoffs…you don’t fix what isn’t broken, and my record isn’t broken.”

“For now, I’m happily retired. You never know, but it would have to be worth it,” Mayweather said. “Just like gambling right? Juice worth the squeeze no matter who the opponent is.”

‘Notorious’ is also retired from his sport. The popular Irishman announced he would be walking away from MMA for the third time in four years in the aftermath of UFC 250. McGregor later revealed he has become frustrated with the lack of fights available to him in the UFC. He last fought against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246 in January winning the fight by knockout inside one minute.

Since then he has been linked to another boxing bout. This time against Manny Pacquiao who shares the same management company as him. UFC president Dana White has shut down any chance of that fight happening in 2020 and continues to insist McGregor is retired – at least for now.

Do you think Conor McGregor will eventually box again?
