Anthony Joshua Blames Deontay Wilder For Them Not Fighting
Anthony Joshua is amongst the heavyweight trio claiming all of the hype over the past few years, with Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.
With Fury and Wilder potentially set to go head to head for a third time in 2021.
WBO, WBA, IBF & IBO heavyweight world champion Joshua claims Wilder is the sole reason as to why they haven’t shared the ring together yet.
Wilder recently sent a tweet to Fury stating “you know I was offered more money to fight Joshua than I was getting to fight you.”
“Again, being a man of my word, I fought you,” Wilder said.
Joshua believes that is the reason Wilder has been dodging him, over the past few years.
“He took a loss and isn’t used to it. In my humble opinion, it isn’t coming across in the right way,” Joshua said.
“He told the world that he ducked and dodged me, we offered him a fight and he went down the route of fighting fury.”
It may look like the Fury vs Wilder rivalry needs to finish, before we see Joshua in the mix.
Wilder claims he gave Fury the opportunity to bounce back after Fury’s inactivity, battling depression and drug abuse and believes Fury should accept their trilogy fight.
With their first fight resulting in a draw and Fury claiming a round 7 TKO in their rematch, Wilder wants Fury to ‘honour’ his words for a third.
“The only thing I want from you is for you to honour your agreement and fight me.”
“I gave you 2 shots when I didn’t have to and it changed your life,” Wilder said.
At this stage, it is not confirmed as to when or if we will see a trilogy between these two men, with rumours of other opponents already spreading.
Anthony Joshua is lined up to fight Kubrat Pulev on December 12, if Joshua has his hand raised, he could be waiting for a shot at either Wilder or Fury next.
