Oscar De La Hoya Open To Having Return Fight Against GGG
Oscar De La Hoya has been hinting at making a return to boxing and has now talked about a possible opponent.
According to the Golden Boy promoter, De La Hoya, says he is open to the idea of fighting Gennadiy Golovkin.
“You know how easy GGG would be for me? Oh, my gosh,” De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com. “It would be a high-profile fight, that’s for sure.”
De La Hoya vs. GGG would be a big fight and as he says, a high-profile one. However, GGG is still one of the best boxers in the world while De La Hoya has not competed in 12 years and is 47-years-old. But, if he does come back he says 160-pounds is likely where he would fight.
“Right now I came down to 170 (pounds),” De La Hoya said. “So I still am not sure if I can make 154. I’m sure I can make 160 comfortably.”
For Oscar De La Hoya, he says he will also be paying close attention to this Saturday’s Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. fight to see how two legends go at it. However, he says even if neither man looks good, that won’t be the only factor in determining if he will indeed make a comeback.
“I’ve already bought the pay-per-view for Tyson-Jones. I’m the first one to turn on my TV and I’m excited to watch and see how Tyson feels and how he looks because that’s going to be a huge determining factor (in if I come back),” De La Hoya said. “But it’s not going to be the only factor in the decision that I make.”
Whether or not Oscar De La Hoya will indeed return is to be seen.
