VIDEO | Mike Tyson & Roy Jones Jr. Face Off Ahead Of Exhibition Bout
Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has squared off with Roy Jones Jr. ahead of their eagerly anticipated exhibition bout which is set to take place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles later tonight.
Both men weighed in yesterday before sharing an intense face-off. A thin bit of material separated Tyson and Jones Jr. who both looked in phenomenal shape despite being in their fifties – check it out.
Ahead of the fight the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has said Tyson vs. Jones Jr. will be “hard sparring” during which neither man is allowed to pursue the knockout.
That message doesn’t seem to have resonated with ‘Iron Mike’ who told reporters in LA that he will come straight at his opponent tonight, he said.
“I’m pitching punches and everything else is up to Roy. I’m coming at him. He doesn’t have to worry about me. If I’m running anywhere I’m running right at him.
“Maybe I don’t know how to go easy. I don’t know. I don’t want to say the wrong thing. I don’t want the commission mad at me.” (Transcribed by SKY)
Tyson hasn’t fought since 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride. Jones Jr. was active up until 2018 but is still way off his prime fighting years when he once held seven belts simultaneously.
Who wins? Mike Tyson or Roy Jones Jr?
