Badou Jack Batters Gutsy Blake McKernan In Decision Win – Highlights
Badou Jack got back in the win column as expected against the previously unbeaten Blake McKernan.
In the early rounds Jack advanced forward with distain for his inexperienced opponent. The two-weight world champ battered McKernan, often going to the body with nasty shots but was unable to get rid of the gutsy fighter who wouldn’t go down without a fight. McKernan would land with the occasional hail Mary shot but Jack continued to press forward.
By round five McKernan looked to be on his way out. The Swedish fighter was landing at will, but his opponent just wouldn’t go away and even managed to land a couple of eye-catching shots of his own. It was all Jack in round six who was consistently able to land big body shots. McKernan looked ready to go on several occasions but his heart just didn’t let him go down.
More of the same in round seven. McKernan is almost too tough for his own good right now – he’s ate far too many shots in this fight. Jack tried to get the statement KO win in the eighth and final round. The referee really could have stepped in and waved off this fight but didn’t. McKernan saw the final bell and was swinging as it sounded.
Badou Jack def. Blake McKernan via unanimous decision (80-72 X3)
