Logan Paul Admits Floyd Mayweather Fight ‘Makes No Sense’
YouTuber star turned professional boxer Logan Paul understands his upcoming exhibition bout against Hall of Fame fighter Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather “makes no sense” but still considers the fight his biggest achievement to date.
Mayweather announced the news on social media earlier this month. His exhibition with Paul is set to take place on February 20. The fight will be available to purchase on Fanmio pay-per-view. As per the Fanmio website, early pricing is $24.99 for the first million pay-per-view tickets sold. From then on, it will be $39.99 while the price will increase to $59.99 starting December 29. Finally, it will increase to $69.99 starting February 11.
This will mark Mayweather’s second exhibition bout since he retired from boxing in August 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor in his professional boxing debut. ‘Money’ has since defeated Japanese kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa via first-round TKO in their December 2018 exhibition meeting.
Paul, meanwhile, is yet to earn a win in any form of boxing. The popular YouTuber fought KSI to a draw in their amateur bout before losing a split decision in their September 2019 rematch which marked their debuts in professional boxing.
Speaking on a recent episode of Food Truck Diaries with Brendan Schaub, Paul explained how the fight came together and admitted it doesn’t really make sense, he said.
“My manager, [this] is months ago, comes up to me, he says ‘Logan would you fight Floyd Mayweather?’ I go, ‘I mean, yes I would, but why are you asking me that question? Like go do something else, this makes no sense, how is that going to be a thing ever?’
“I think a month later, he approached me with a contract,” Paul continued. “He said ‘If you sign here, you’re going to be fighting Floyd Mayweather.’ I said ‘Sure Jeff, I’ll sign your fantasy contract. Like f*** you, why would this ever happen?’ I signed it, and then after just months and months of going back and forth and figuring out dates, we had three different dates, and how to announce it, and just like the strategy behind it, it finally came to fruition, and this event that supersedes everything I’ve ever done in my life is finally solidified.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)
