Bob Arum Reveals A Location Has Been Selected For Fury-Joshua Fight
Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua is very likely to happen in 2021 and Fury’s U.S. promoter, Bob Arum, reveals a location has been selected.
The hope for many fans was to have the fight in the United Kingdom given both men are from there. It would be a massive event, however, the Middle East is looking more likely to host the event.
“We have a location, that’s true,” Arum told Barbershop Conversations (via DailyMail). “We have a location and, as far as the date is confirmed, we haven’t zeroed in on a date. It could be as late as June because it would give more time to solve the coronavirus problem. By June, most people will be vaccinated, so it’s possible. And then we would do the fight, pay-per-view in the UK and pay-per-view early evening in the United States.”
According to Bob Arum, Saudi Arabia leads the way, with Singapore, Dubai, Qatar and China all in the mix to host the massive fight. Both men are also set to earn a mammoth $100 million for the massive fight.
Tyson Fury is a perfect 30-0-1 in his career and coming off a massive TKO win over Deontay Wilder last February. After the win, many thought the trilogy would be next, but all signs point to Fury fighting Joshua next time out.
In his career, the current WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion holds notable wins over Derek Chisora, twice, Wladimir Klitschko, and Otto Wallin among others.
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, defended his heavyweight titles back in December with a KO win over Kubrat Pulev. Before that, he reclaimed his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles with a decision win over Andy Ruiz Jr. in the rematch after he was shockingly knocked out in the first fight. The Brit also holds notable wins over Alexander Povetkin, Joseph Parker, Dillian Whyte, and Wladimir Klitschko.
