Tyson Fury Praises Ryan Garcia: True Champions Get Off The Floor And ‘Win Fights’
It’s safe to assume WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is a fan of Ryan Garcia.
Garcia is coming off the biggest win of his career after a seventh-round TKO win over Luke Campbell last month.
It was all the more impressive considering Garcia was knocked down by Campbell in the second round in what was the first time he was ever knocked down in his professional career.
Despite that, Garcia bounced back and ultimately landed a devastating body shot to end the fight and become the WBC interim lightweight champion.
And Fury believes Garcia showed he was a true champion by getting off the canvas and going on to win — something he did himself against Steve Cunningham.
“I thought it was a good test for him,” Fury said in a chat with Gareth Davies. “Luke’s a very accomplished guy, he’s only lost to world champions and good fighters. It was a good learning fight for Garcia. Luke Campbell did very well, but in the end Garcia showed his true value and a true champion can get up off the floor and win fights.
“We’ve seen it with Muhammad Ali, Tyson Fury, and Ryan Garcia now. Until a champion gets knocked down and get back up to win a fight, it’s always a question if he can or can’t.”
As for the reports of Garcia facing Manny Pacquiao next? Fury thinks it will only benefit the 22-year-old.
“I hear he’s fighting Manny Pacquiao next so fantastic stuff,” Fury added. “It will be good for his career.”
