Deontay Wilder Not Done Boxing, Wants To Fight Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz
Deontay Wilder is far from done when it comes to boxing.
Wilder hasn’t competed since a seventh-round TKO defeat to Tyson Fury in their WBC heavyweight title fight in February last year.
He has since laid out a number of bizarre excuses for his defeat and has even blamed former coach Mark Breland for not only throwing in the towel, but for allegedly spiking his water.
Any hopes of a trilogy with Fury are also dashed as the latter is slated to fight Anthony Joshua twice in 2021. So what’s next for the American?
Other than the obvious Fury trilogy, he would like to fight top names in the heavyweight division he is yet to face.
“Without naming the obvious that people obviously know [Fury], I’d love to fight guys I haven’t fought,” Wilder said on Instagram (via talkSPORT). “You know, the ones at the top who I haven’t fought, haven’t got my hands on, that’s what I want.
“I know that’s kinda lame a little bit, to not name a name, but anyone I ain’t faced at the top, I’m talking about you.”
The obvious names at the top of the division are Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz, and when asked if those were names that interested him, Wilder confirmed as such.
“Yeah. Any fighter that’s at the top that people haven’t seen me fight and people strongly want to see me fight, that’s who I want to fight,” Wilder added. “I can sit here and name names all day, that’s the easy part.
“I’m just gonna go to the top, if it’s someone I ain’t fought, that’s who I want to fight. I want to clean the division out. People think I’m gone or I’ve stopped boxing. I haven’t.”
Who do you think Wilder should face next?
