Mike Tyson Says He Will Box Lennox Lewis In September
Mike Tyson will return in September, the former heavyweight champion revealed.
Tyson recently said he would return in May, and said it would be against Evander Holyfield, yet, that did not come to fruition for whatever reason.
“I just want everybody to know the fight is on with me and Holyfield,” Tyson said during an IG Live session with Haute Living. “Holyfield’s a humble man I know that and he’s a man of God but I’m God’s man. Listen, I’m going to be successful May 29.”
Now, according to Tyson, he is set to face Lennox Lewis in September, but it’s uncertain what day and what other fights will be on the card.
“I’m gonna fight Lennox Lewis,” Tyson told us TMZ Sports on Tuesday night on the way out of Catch in L.A. … “September.”
Mike Tyson, of course, made his return to the ring last November where he fought Roy Jones Jr. to a draw. He ended his career on a two-fight losing streak after losing to Kevin McBride and Danny Williams. He did fight Lennox Lewis in 2002 where Lewis won by KO in the eighth-round.
Lennox Lewis, meanwhile, is 55-years-old and has not fought since 2003 when he scored a TKO win over Vitali Klitschko. He is 41-2-1 with notable wins over Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Hasim Rahman, and Shannon Briggs among others.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that Mike Tyson is returning to the ring as after the draw with Jones Jr. he said he wanted to do another fight.
“I want to do it again, and I want to do it against someone I could go all out on,” Tyson revealed on his Hotboxin with Mike Tyson podcast. “It made me interested in wanting to do it again. I wanted to go the distance. I didn’t want to knock anybody out. That’s what people expected, but I wanted to go the distance.”
