Billy Joe Saunders Releases Statement Following Canelo Alvarez Defeat
Billy Joe Saunders has released a statement following his defeat to Canelo Alvarez.
Saunders took on Alvarez in super-middleweight title unification clash this past weekend and despite a good showing, ultimately suffered an eighth-round TKO defeat after Alvarez damaged his orbital bone with an uppercut.
The corner of Saunders decided he couldn’t continue following the eighth round as it was later revealed that the Briton had suffered multiple fractures to his orbital bone as he underwent surgery on Sunday.
Luckily, Saunders seems to be alright now as he took to Facebook to break his silence on his first career defeat while revealing he also broke his cheekbone in three places.
“Thanks everyone for msg. Broken eye socket and broken cheek bone in 3 places. operation yesterday all went well. you win some and lose some didn’t feel out my League but got caught with a good shot and couldn’t see and Ben got the Conner to pull it. Thank you all who watched I’ll be back god bless you all 💙”
Hopefully, Saunders bounces back strong as not many would complain if we got to see him and Alvarez compete in a rematch down the line.
