Teofimo Lopez Confident If He Fought Lomachenko Again He’d KO Him
Teofimo Lopez is confident if he were to rematch Vasiliy Lomachenko he would finish him this time around.
Lopez and Lomachenko fought back in October where Lopez pulled off the betting upset and beat the longtime king by decision. According to Lopez, he says Lomachenko still doesn’t know how to deal with the loss but if they were to rematch he would finish him.
“Loma, he finally took an actual loss, for the first time in his whole career, from amateur to pro,” Lopez told a group of reporters (via BoxingScene). “So, he don’t know how to take a loss. You know, my whole thing is like the fact that, you know, seeing the way he is and the way he’s trying to move and all that, he’s just someone that is a sore loser. That’s all it is. I beat him clearly. And when I said, ‘Come on,’ and I said, ‘Step up to the plate,’ he backed down. So, that goes to show, man. And if we were to fight again, he’ll get knocked out and he knows it. I took his heart.”
Although Lopez believes he would KO Lomachenko in a rematch, he still needs to defeat George Kambosos Jr. on June 19. If he wins, Lopez has made it vocal he would like Devin Haney next to become the undisputed and unified lightweight champ.
“Let’s make the fight happen,” Lopez said about fighting the 22-year-old champion (via DAZN). “You’re saying this and you’re saying that. Earlier this week, you were supposed to meet with my promoter Bob Arum and y’all pulled out, so we can negotiate this fight.”
Teofimo Lopez is 16-0 as a pro and if he beats Kambosos Jr. next weekend he has tons of options for his next fight. He could rematch Lomachenko or face either Haney, Ryan Garcia, or Tank Davis which would all be highly-anticipated bouts.
Do you think Teofimo Lopez would KO Lomachenko if they rematched?
