Manny Pacquiao Fires Back At Floyd Mayweather, Says He’s Fighting The Best
Manny Pacquiao has taken a shot at Floyd Mayweather.
Pacquiao is set to fight Errol Spence Jr. on August 21 in a highly-anticipated bout. However, prior to Mayweather’s return against Logan Paul, he took a shot at Pacquiao.
“When I come and do an exhibition or come out and box and have some fun, I do it because I want to do it, not because I have to do it,” Mayweather said. “Whereas Pacquiao at his age, it’s sad that he has to fight. I’m financially set and I want to let everybody know this.”
Now, Manny Pacquiao went on the show Power & Play where he said he isn’t doing it for money. He says he likes to compete and wants to fight the best. If he needed money, he would’ve boxed a scrub which he says Mayweather did.
“I’m not like some other guys who are in it just for the money. Some other fighters challenge non-boxers just to get paid. I want to fight. I want to challenge the best,” Pacquiao said. “If I’m fighting for the money, then I would have picked some scrub to fight. Why would I try to fight an undefeated fighter if I’m chasing the paycheck? This is a real fight. I fight because this is my passion. I love beating undefeated fighters and bringing honour to my country.”
Manny Pacquiao enters this fight with a professional record of 69-7-2 and at 42-years-old he still is very competitive as he’s on a three-fight winning streak. He last fought back in July of 2019 where he beat Keith Thurman by split decision to win the WBA (Super) welterweight title. He’ll now fight for the WBC and IBF welterweight titles against Spence Jr. in Las Vegas.
