Eddie Hearn: Deontay Wilder Can’t Just ‘Grow Ability Overnight’
Eddie Hearn is seemingly expecting a win for Tyson Fury in his trilogy with Deontay Wilder.
Fury defends his WBC heavyweight strap against Wilder when they clash for a third time in Las Vegas on July 24.
Of course, this trilogy was ordered by an arbitrator who ruled that Wilder was contractually obligated to a fight with Fury which extinguished plans for a title unification clash with Anthony Joshua.
However, Hearn — who promotes Joshua — still expects the highly-anticipated unification clash with Fury to eventually happen.
At least, going by his comments on Wilder (via Michael Benson).
“A guy doesn’t just grow ability overnight. [He looks] exactly the same. Hitting pads with Malik Scott. Movement, footwork, exactly the same… He’s also, mentally, completely and utterly defeated.””
It will be interesting to see if Wilder — who has vowed to end Fury’s career in their upcoming fight — comes across these comments and hits back at Hearn.
