Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III In Jeopardy After COVID Outbreak In Fury Camp
The trilogy between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder might be postponed.
The pair are set to compete for the WBC heavyweight title for a third time on July 24 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
However, the fight is currently in jeopardy after ESPN reported that there was a COVID-19 outbreak in Fury’s camp.
As of now, there is no word on whether the fight will go ahead.
“We continue to monitor the health status of Tyson and his team, and the status of the event has not changed to date,” a statement from Top Rank said Thursday.
As far as team Wilder is concerned? They are still preparing as if the fight is on (via Michael Benson).
“I don’t care what the media’s reporting… If this is supposed to be a distraction, we’re not distracted at all,” Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott said.
He went on to add the following:
“We’re dealing with a fighter that I believe nothing he says. We’re dealing with a fighter that said him and Conor McGregor are something like best friends and then McGregor said he don’t even know the guy.”
Do you think the fight will still happen?
