Terence Crawford To Reportedly Leave Top Rank After October Fight
Terence Crawford will be walking away from Top Rank after his October fight.
Crawford is the current WBO welterweight champ and has been disgruntled with Bob Arum and Top Rank for quite some time. Arum has said Crawford isn’t promotable and for his longtime co-trainer Red Spikes, he says after his fight in October, he will be leaving Top Rank for good.
“I’m not going to speak on it, but things are coming to fruition right now and things are about to get ‘real’, real quick,” Coach Red recently stated during a conversation with “Bernie tha Boxer” on YouTube (via fightsaga). “October is the final month of Bud’s contract. We have a disgruntled promotional company that’s promoting us, and they aren’t going to give us s*** But they owe us $4 million. So we’re going to fight Jose Zepeda for $4 f***ing million, and that will be that!”
After Crawford beat Kell Brook in November, the rumor was he would either face Errol Spence Jr. or Manny Pacquiao. Unfortnately, neither of those happened which is why Crawford is disgruntled with Top Rank and plans to leave them.
“They promised us the Pacquiao fight. They promised us all these things. But when it came to the corner, it didn’t happen. Then we were stuck. Just like many other fighters before us were. Oscar De La Hoya left Top Rank. Manny Pacquiao left Top Rank. “Floyd Mayweather left Top Rank for the same reasons. If y’all know your history, you know that the best fighters in the world were with Top Rank at some point in time. But the business wasn’t right, and they left and got their s*** right. That’s what’s going to happen after Bud’s contract expires in October,” Red continued about Crawford.
Who Terence Crawford will sign with after his October fight is to be seen. But, his fight in October will be his final one for Top Rank.
