Leonard Ellerbe Believes Gervonta Davis Would Knock Out Keith Thurman Amid Fight Rumors
Gervonta Davis vs. Keith Thurman? Sign Leonard Ellerbe up.
Recent reports have linked a fight between Davis and former welterweight dual-belt holder Thurman.
Thurman has even been open to the prospect, having gone as far as stating he believes a fight between him and “Tank” could do 600,000 buys.
And although Davis would be at a huge size disadvantage against Thurman, that didn’t seem to affect him when he TKO’d Mario Barrios in their super lightweight title fight in June.
Mayweather Promotions CEO Ellerbe is certainly open to booking it if Thurman’s side is receptive. He even believes Thurman would get knocked the f*ck out.
“Tank is not a 47 pounder, and Keith can fight his a** off,” Ellerbe tweeted in response to Thurman’s comments. “He’s a guy I got a lot of respect for, but that fight I’d make in 2 seconds.
“Tank would knock him the f*ck out right now. Trust me, if he’s serious which I highly doubt, that’s an easy phone call.”
While Davis beating Thurman would have been a crazy thing to say a few years ago, it’s certainly a possibility now given how poor the latter has looked in his last two fights due to injuries and inactivity.
And if Manny Pacquiao was able to defeat Thurman, Davis — who is almost similar in size — certainly has a shot today.
