Amir Khan Ready To Fight End Of The Year, Calls For Kell Brook To Step Up
Amir Khan is ready to fight again — and he only wants Kell Brook.
Khan hasn’t competed since he TKO’d Billy Dib back in July 2019. However, the former super lightweight champion is ready to return to action before the end of the year.
He would like his last few fights to be in the United Kingdom in front of his fans with one fight that interests him in particular — a long awaited grudge match with domestic rival Brook.
He also hit back at the notion that he was scared of fighting Brook, the latter of whom is coming off a TKO defeat to Terence Crawford.
“I wanna fight end of the year,” Khan said (via Michael Benson). “I’ve started a bit of training. Kell Brook needs to step up and make it happen. I’m ready now, so I don’t know why he’s all quiet.
“I fought Canelo, Crawford. Do you think I’m scared of Brook? Let’s make that fight happen.”
Whether it happens remains to be seen.
Many observers expected the fight to happen years ago and every time it’s mentioned from time to time now, it’s taken with a big pinch of salt and low expectations.
But perhaps now is the best time as both fighters look set to call it a day sooner rather than later. Surely one last big payday would be beneficial to both men?
