Report: Vasiliy Lomachenko Finalizing Richard Commey Fight, Will Headline Dec. 11 Event
Vasiliy Lomachenko‘s next fight is close to being set.
As per ESPN, the former lightweight champion is in advanced talks for a December 11 fight with Richard Commey at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
However, ESPN adds that regardless of whomever he ends up fighting, Lomachenko will be headlining Top Rank’s show on that date.
Lomachenko lost his lightweight titles after getting outpointed by current champion Teofimo Lopez in October last year.
The Ukrainian would bounce back with an impressive ninth-round stoppage of Masayoshi Nakatani in June — becoming the first to stop the Japanese fighter in the process.
He will now look to defeat another former opponent of Lopez’s in Commey, who recently bounced back from his TKO loss to Lopez with a knockout win over Jackson Marinez.
Lomachenko was hoping to face Lopez in a rematch next. However, ongoing issues with Lopez’s rescheduled title defense against George Kambosos have led us here.
Who do you have winning this fight?
