Manny Pacquiao Open To Fighting Undisputed Champion Josh Taylor

Manny Pacquiao says he doesn’t have any issue going one-on-one with Josh Taylor.

Taylor is the undisputed light-welterweight champion. He became recognized as the undisputed champion when he defeated Jose Ramirez via unanimous decision.

Pacquiao will be taking on Yordenis Ugas for the WBA Welterweight Title this Saturday night (Aug. 21). “PacMan” was supposed to fight Errol Spence Jr. for the WBC and IBF Welterweight gold, but Spence had to undergo a procedure for a retinal tear.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Pacquiao said he wouldn’t have a problem sharing the ring with Taylor.

“I have no problem to fight anybody, as long as it is 147lbs [at welterweight]. As long as I am still in boxing, I can fight anybody. This is why I chose Errol Spence Jr [his original opponent who withdrew injured and was replaced by Ugas], because I want to fight the best.

“Anytime, I can fight anybody.”

Back in June, Taylor told Metro that he feels he can defeat Manny Pacquiao and wouldn’t hesitate to take the fight if offered.

“Of course. I feel I can beat any of these guys, I’m not going to sit here and say otherwise. Of course I would love these fights, they are massive. You ask any fighter if they would jump at the opportunity to fight these guys and they would bite your hand off. 100 percent I would jump at the chance.”

Taylor is set for a mandatory title defense against Jack Catterall. The two will collide on Dec. 18 in Glasgow. Sky Sports will carry the bout in the UK, while the major ESPN network gets broadcasting rights in the United States.

Boxing Daily will provide results and highlights from the Pacquiao vs. Ugas bout this weekend. If Pacquiao emerges victorious, it’ll be interesting to see when the Spence bout will be rescheduled.
