Tommy Fury Admits His Performance Against Anthony Taylor Was ‘Dogsh*t’
Even Tommy Fury acknowledges his performance on Sunday night wasn’t the best.
The Briton outpointed the undersized Anthony Taylor over four rounds on the main card of the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley event.
However, it was far from impressive as there was little action from Fury’s side nor was he really effective with whatever he threw against what was clearly a gimme opponent.
The crowd were booing throughout as Fury’s volume was enough to get him the win. And after claiming it was a good performance given how young he is in the sport in his post-fight interview, he changed his tune in the post-fight press conference.
“My performance was honestly dogsh*t,” Fury said. “I’m a realist, I don’t beat around the bush. I say it how it is and I always will say how it is. Win, lose or draw, you will alway see an honest answer from myself — I didn’t rate my performance tonight at all. At all and that’s just period.
“But this is the sport of boxing, we have good days and bad days. I got the win and that’s all that matters in a fight.”
Ignoring the fact that he wasn’t honest in his post-fight interview, it’s at least a good sign that Fury acknowledges he was poor.
That said, he also believes his poor performance should give Jake Paul no excuses not to fight him.
“Jake Paul should have an easy night against me, right? He has no excuse to not take the fight. Let’s get it on Jake Paul,” Fury added in his post-fight interview.
