Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr Rescheduled For October 4
The title fight between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr. has finally been rescheduled.
Lopez was set to defend his lightweight titles against Kambosos on June 19 until he tested positive for COVID-19. The plan at the time was to reschedule the fight — promoted by Triller — for August 14.
It’s taken a while since, but the lightweight title fight is now rescheduled for October 4 at the MSG Theater in New York.
Interestingly, it will take place on a Monday.
“🥊 ANNOUNCED: Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr has now been officially rescheduled for Monday, Oct 4th at MSG Theater, New York. Teofimo defending his WBA, WBC ‘franchise’, IBF & WBO lightweight titles.”
Lopez improved to 16-0 and became the unified lightweight champion after impressively outpointing Vasiliy Lomachenko over 12 rounds in their title fight last October. It will be nearly a year since Lopez competes again.
Kambosos, meanwhile, will also be competing after nearly a year after defeating Lee Selby to become the mandatory challenger in October last year. Like Lopez, he is undefeated with a 19-0 record.
