Andy Ruiz Jr. has a few names in mind for his next fight.

Ruiz Jr. returned to the win column last time out as he earned as he beat Chris Arreola by decision in May. Prior to that, he suffered a lopsided decision to Anthony Joshua to lose his heavyweight titles after he TKO’s Joshua in a massive upset. Since the win, many have wondered who would be next for him and he says he has three names in mind.

“We’re looking at Adam Kownacki, he’s going to be fighting in October,” said Ruiz Jr. to FightHype.com (via BoxingInsider). “There’s Charles Martin, Luis Ortiz. There’s a lot of guys out there for me. I just gotta stay busy and stay active.”

Adam Kownacki is set to rematch Robert Helenius on October 9 on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder 3. He’s coming off a TKO loss to Helenius in March of 2020 which was an upset. Before the loss, he beat Chris Arreola. Charles Martin, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since February 2020 where he beat Gerald Washington by TKO. He also has beaten the likes of Tom Dallas, Mike Marrone, and Alexander Flores. Ortiz, on the other hand, is the most notable name out of the three as his only two losses are to Deontay Wilder. He also holds notable wins over Flores, Bryant Jennings, and Tony Thompson among others.

Regardless of his next fight, Andy Ruiz Jr. said he is coming off a torn meniscus and says he should be able to return in December.

“I just had surgery, I had a torn meniscus,” explained Ruiz Jr. “I was supposed to get operated on it three years ago but I was scared. They were giving me medicine for it but the doctor told me that it’s better for me to be operated on. I feel good, I feel blessed and hopefully, I should be getting back in there in December.”
