Canelo Alvarez Not Ruling Out Jake Paul Fight: ‘We Never Say No’
Canelo Alvarez won’t rule out boxing Jake Paul in the future.
Paul has made it clear he wants to box and beat Alvarez in the next couple of years to prove he is a legit boxer. Many took it as a joke and something that will never happen, but for the Mexican, he says he doesn’t know if the fight will ever happen, but he won’t rule it out.
“We don’t know,” Alvarez said after a workout in his San Diego gym for his upcoming Nov. 6 undisputed super middleweight title bout against Caleb Plant (21-0, 12 KOs) in Las Vegas on Showtime Pay-Per-View (via boxingscene). “We don’t know. We never say no. We don’t know. He can try and keep…fighting and learning. We’ll see in the future.”
Jake Paul has made it known he is taking boxing seriously and he believes he is getting very good at such a fast rate that he can hang with Alvarez in a few years. However, the Mexican says he needs to focus on training and improving and maybe one day they will box which would be a massive event.
For now, Alvarez is focused on his upcoming fight against Caleb Plant on November 6. It will be a massive fight and one that has the Mexican’s entire focus. Besides that, he isn’t putting too much stock into Paul who is only a 4-0 boxer.
Paul, meanwhile, doesn’t have his next fight booked but is coming off a split decision win over Tyron Woodley in August. There has been talk of the rematch while he has also sent an offer out to Tommy Fury. Regardless, Paul will box again and still has his eyes on Alvarez and proving the doubters wrong.
Do you think we will ever see Canelo Alvarez box Jake Paul?
