Gervonta Davis Respects Isaac Cruz For Stepping Up But Confident He’ll KO Him
Gervonta Davis is confident he will KO Isaac Cruz but is happy he stepped up on short notice.
Davis was supposed to fight Rolando Romero on December 5 but Romero was removed from the fight after a Las Vegas woman recently revealed the details of an alleged sexual assault, which is now being investigated by law enforcement. With that, Cruz stepped up and Davis is happy he did.
“I respect Isaac Cruz for stepping up and taking the fight, but everyone knows what I do,” said Davis (via Boxingscene). “I come in looking for the knockout and that’s exactly what I’m going to do in this fight. I’m back in Los Angeles where the stars shine and I’m going to light it up against Isaac Cruz at Staples Center on December 5.’’
Gervonta Davis enters this fight with a pro record of 25-0 and coming off a win over Mario Berrios. It was a solid win, and for Leonard Ellerbe, he’s excited for this fight against Cruz. However, he is confident the fight will end with Davis winning by KO.
“This is going to be a tremendous fight on Showtime PPV,” said Ellerbe. “Isaac Cruz was ready for this big opportunity and I expect him to come ready to deliver the fight of his life. However, Gervonta Davis is a generational talent who’s only getting better. This fight is going to end in spectacular fashion on December 5.”
Should Davis win on December 5, the hope is he gets to fight one of the big names at lightweight like Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, or Ryan Garcia. Yet, for now, his focus is on Cruz and getting another highlight-reel KO win.
