Floyd Mayweather Reveals His Top Pound-For-Pound Boxer
Floyd Mayweather has revealed his top pound-for-pound boxer, and it surprised many as it is not Canelo Alvarez.
Alvarez is currently the best fighter on the planet to the majority of people as he’s a multi-division champion and the undisputed super-middleweight champion. Yet, even with all those accomplishments, Mayweather doesn’t think the Mexican is the best pound-for-pound boxer. Instead, he says that honor goes to Terence Crawford, who the undefeated retired boxer says is special.
“The pound-for-pound top fighter right now is Terence Crawford,’ Mayweather told Fight Hype. “Everything about life is about time and patience. And Crawford I just truly believe that he doesn’t have to be under my company for me to give him praise, I am not like that. If he is ever a free agent and he would like to go to any company I would love to work with him. Because I know what I can do to take him to that next level as he has a lot of raw talent and he is a hell of a fighter.”
Terence Crawford is one of the best boxers in the world, so Floyd Mayweather does have a case to consider him the best. Yet, there is no question this will cause stirs in the boxing world. But, for Mayweather, he says Crawford reminds him of himself which is why he says he is the best.
“There is a lot of great fighters out there but he (Crawford) is a mother******, and one thing I like about him he reminds me of a young Floyd Mayweather. He can fight his ass off and that’s what I like about him, but he is a lot older than I was when he started getting praise because I fought for a world title when my career began blossoming.”
Terence Crawford is currently 38-0 and coming off a stoppage win over Shawn Porter to defend his WBO welterweight title.
