Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte Purse Bid Hearing Postponed For Third Time

Remarkably, the purse bid hearing for the Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte fight has been postponed for a third time.

Fury is to defend his WBC heavyweight title against Whyte in a fight that was initially expected to take place in March.

However, with Whyte having an ongoing legal battle with the WBC as well as not being satisfied with the 80/20 purse split, it looks like it might be some time before anything is official.

Initially, both parties had until January 11th to strike a deal otherwise it would go to purse bids.

It would since get delayed twice and as of Friday, would get delayed a third time as the deadline is now January 26 as per WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman.

“The WBC has received requests from both sides—Tyson Fury and Dillan Whyte–to extend the free negotiation period which has been granted,” Sulaiman said (via BoxingScene). “If there is no agreement a purse offer ceremony will take place on Wednesday January 26.”

Hopefully, the purse bid hearing doesn’t get delayed any further as the division needs to move on.

Especially as Fury and Whyte have had nearly two months to come to an agreement.
