Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano Announced, Jake Paul Reacts
Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano is official.
Arguably the biggest fight in women’s boxing was announced on Thursday as Taylor will defend her lightweight titles against Serrano in a headliner taking place at New York’s Madison Square Garden on April 30.
Further showcasing how big this fight is, it will be the first women’s boxing match in history to headline at Madison Square Garden.
“I wasn’t sure if it was going to be possible, but for this fight to headline at Madison Square Garden would truly be the pinnacle of the sport,” Taylor told ESPN before the fight was official. “So much of boxing’s history is linked to MSG, and I’ve been fortunate enough to fight there already on a couple of occasions.
“It’s such an iconic venue so to be part of the first ever women’s fight to main event there would be truly special.”
Taylor is the unified women’s lightweight champion and holds a 20-0 record, having most recently outpointed Firuza Sharipova last month.
Serrano, meanwhile, is the unified women’s featherweight champion and will move up to lightweight once again. She holds a 42-1-1 record.
Serrano is also notably promoted by Jake Paul who took to social media to react to the fight being booked.
