George Kambosos Jr. Reveals He’s Fighting Devin Haney Or Vasiliy Lomachenko In Australia Next
George Kambosos Jr. is only fighting one of two people next.
Kambosos became the WBA, IBF and WBO lightweight champion following his split decision win over Teofimo Lopez back in November.
With no rematch clause and Lopez set to move up to 140 pounds, the question then turned to who Kambosos would face next.
Devin Haney would be ideal as he is the WBC lightweight champion and they could finally unify the division for good.
However, it’s been reported that former champion Vasiliy Lomachenko could be ordered as the mandatory opponent for Kambosos next.
There’s also been speculation of Kambosos potentially facing Ryan Garcia next while the champion has also expressed an interest in fighting Gervonta Davis.
But as far as Kambosos is concerned for now, he’s fighting either Haney or Lomachenko next — and in a stadium in his home country of Australia.
“I’m fighting either Devin Haney or Vasyl Lomachenko next in Australia,” Kambosos said (via Michael Benson). “Full stop. From the horse’s mouth.”
Either one of those fights would be absolutely massive. All we can do is hope there’s some movement in the next few weeks.
