Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker Talks Continue, Progress Being Made
A pivotal heavyweight bout between Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker is getting closer to happening.
Joyce and Parker have been rumored to fight one another for quite some time as neither has fought in 2022 as they continue to negotiate a potential bout. According to Joyce’s manager, there is progress being made on the fight and the hope is it gets done soon and would take place in the UK.
“It’s a massive fight. We’re still negotiating it – it’s not finalized yet but good progress is being made. It’s the biggest fight outside the top four guys fighting. It’s the biggest fight on the heavyweight scene right now,” said Adam Morallee of SJAM management, who guides the career of Joyce, to Sky Sports. “We hope we can land it and we hope we can land in the UK for the UK fight fans to watch Joe Joyce continue his ascent to the top of the division.”
Joe Joyce (13-0) is coming off a TKO win over Carlos Takam in July and before that, he scored a KO win over Daniel Dubois in a crucial fight for the heavyweight division. The 36-year-old is a 2016 Olympic silver medalist and also holds notable wins over Bryant Jennings, Joe Hanks, Michael Wallisch, and Bermane Stiverne. If he were to fight and beat Parker, it would easily be the biggest win of his career.
Joseph Parker (30-2) has won back-to-back fights over Derek Chisora and before that, he beat Junior Fa. Parker’s two losses came to Anthony Joshua by decision and a decision loss to Dillian Whyte in back-to-back fights. He’s the former WBO heavyweight champion and is looking to get another big fight against one of the top guys.
