Eddie Hearn Reveals What He Thinks Are The Two Biggest Fights To Make In Boxing

Eddie Hearn has two fights in mind that he thinks are the biggest to make in boxing.

There are several high-profile massive fights to make like Spence Jr. vs Crawford, Alvarez-GGG 3, Tyson Fury vs. the Usyk-Joshua winner if he comes back, and others. Yet, for Hearn, he believes Alvarez is involved in both of the biggest fights in boxing.

“I’m a little bit biased because I just love the Gennadiy Golovkin trilogy. Now I think it’s even more intriguing because he’s coming off the defeat. If he was to lose to Gennadiy Golovkin, where does he go? You’re talking about losing at 175, losing at 168. You’re no longer a world [champion]. Of course, he’s Canelo Alvarez. But still, back-to-back defeats like that,” Hearn told The DAZN Boxing Show (via BoxingScene). So all the pressure right now is actually heaped on Canelo Alvarez. You don’t know what defeat is going to do to a man like that.

“We know he suffered one years ago against Floyd Mayweather. He was a young man then. Can he bounce back? Is he affected by that? Is his confidence gone? But also, I would love to see the rematch [with Bivol]. I think if I was advising him or if he actually listened to what I thought. He asked me my opinion,” Hearn continued. “But as I said, we don’t make the decisions. I would probably go GGG, Dmitry Bivol. That’s what I would probably do, and we’d give Dmitry Bivol a big fight in September or October. Whether that’s [Joshua] Buatsi-[Craig] Richards winner, Callum Smith, [Zurdo] Ramirez. But the rematch is a mega-fight. The two biggest fights in boxing right now actually are Canelo against GGG and Canelo against Bivol rematch.”

There’s no question Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin 3 is one of the biggest fights to make as it has unfinished business. Many thought GGG should’ve won both of the fights and for their legacies, they need to settle the score.

As for the other fight Eddie Hearn wants to see, it’s uncertain if Alvarez will rematch Dmitry Bivol. Bivol proved his size and strength played a big role in the fight but the Mexican is always up for a challenge and now that he has 12 rounds under his belt against him, he will likely do much better.
