Tommy Fury Denies Claims That He Wasn’t Training Which Is Why He Pulled Out Of Jake Paul Fight
Tommy Fury says he was training for Jake Paul and any claims he wasn’t which is why he pulled out is not true.
Fury and Paul were set to fight at Madison Square Garden on August 6 in an intriguing matchup. It was the second time they were booked as the two were supposed to fight last December but it was Fury who was forced out of the bout due to an injury.
Now, this time around, Fury was not allowed in the United State so was forced to pull out. Yet, Fury’s dad John claimed his son was not in shape and was barely training which is why he pulled out but Fury says that is far from the truth.
“Recently on social media, I’ve seen more shit on me than ever,” Fury stated in a video on social media. “I just want to get one thing straight that the reason this fight didn’t take place is because I couldn’t get in the country. It’s not because I wasn’t training or I wasn’t fit. I was ready and raring to go. I was at the airport Monday morning (June 27) with my team ready to fly out and ready to get the show on the road. I could not get into the country and that’s why this fight did not happen.” So, all this bullshit about me not being ready and not training—forget about it. If it’s not coming from me, don’t believe it because it’s not the truth.”
With Fury pulling out of the bout, Jake Paul will now face Hasim Rahman Jr. at MSG in the main event. Perhaps in the future this fight gets rebooked but for now, both men will turn their attention to different opponents.
Fury is 8-0 and coming off a stoppage win over Daniel Bocianski and before that, he beat Anthony Taylor by decision on the Paul-Woodley 1 undercard.
Do you think we will ever see Tommy Fury vs. Jake Paul?
