Ryan Garcia Says Gervonta Davis Bout Will Be The Biggest Fight In Boxing
Ryan Garcia made the Gervonta Davis more likely to happen on Saturday night.
Garcia scored a KO win over Javier Fortuna to improve to 23-0 and after the win, he called out Davis which is no surprise. The two have taken shots at one another for quite some time and if the fight happens next, Garcia says when the bout happens, it will be the biggest fight in all of boxing.
“Here’s the thing – they’re bigger now,” Garcia said to the DAZN broadcast team. “But once the buildup starts and we get it signed, the hype around it will overtake everything. You gotta remember, you know, things rise up because people don’t believe it’s gonna happen. But once it’s set, it will be bigger than any fight out there. I don’t care about Canelo-Triple-G III. I don’t care about – I mean, I love those fights because Crawford and Spence, right, that’s a fight I always wanted to see. But I’m saying like commercially, you know, the general public, once that fight’s announced it’s the biggest fight out there.”
There’s no question a Garcia vs. Davis fight would be massive and would sell a ton of pay-per-views. The winner would also solidify their career as one of the best lightweights ever while the winner would also likely get a undisputed title fight.
If the fight doesn’t happen, Garcia says he will happily move up to 140lbs and face Teofimo Lopez. That would also be a big fight but Garcia says he is confident the Gervonta Davis fight will happen next.
“If that fight, for some reason, doesn’t happen, which I don’t see that happening,” Garcia said, “but if it doesn’t happen, then I wanna fight Teofimo Lopez at 140.”
