Josh Taylor Still Confident He Beat Josh Catterall: ‘There’s Not Anybody In This World That Can Convince Me That I Thought I Lost The Fight’
Josh Taylor has still made it known he thinks he defeated Jack Catterall back in February.
Taylor edged out a split decision but many thought Catterall clearly won the fight and if he did get the nod it would’ve been a massive upset. Since the fight, there has been no talk of having a rematch but for Taylor, he says he doesn’t understand why people think he lost.
“I was absolutely rubbish but I got the right result,” Taylor told talkSPORT Fight Night. “There’s not anybody in this world that can convince me that I thought I lost the fight. I didn’t think I did lose the fight. I thought I won it by a point or two. I thought he was very negative, on the back foot, holding and I think he should’ve had more than one point taken off him for excessive holding. It’s been and done. I got the decision.”
Josh Taylor also isn’t a fan of people thinking he paid off the judges or it was a corrupt event, which he doesn’t like at all.
“After it, people insinuating that there was corruption going on and saying this and saying that and judges getting paid off – which is absolutely ridiculous,” Taylor said. “People who are well respected in the sport shouldn’t be saying things like that.”
Currently, a rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall is being targeted for later this year. It will be a massive fight as both men look to prove they are the better fighter.
Josh Taylor is currently 19-0 and before the win over Catterall he beat Jose Ramirez, Apinun Khongsong, Regis Prograis, and Ivan Baranchyk among others.
