Juan Macias Montiel Vows To ‘Sleep’ Carlos Adames
Juan Macias Montiel plans to win the interim-WBC middleweight title in a violent fashion.
Montiel is set to face Carlos Adames in the co-main event of a Showtime televised broadcast on October 8. The main event of the card will see Sebastia Fundora take on Carlos Ocampo.
Juan Macias Montiel enters the fight with a record of 23-5-2 and coming off a TKO win in his last fight. Adames, however, is 21-1 and has become a legit title contender in the middleweight division. Last time out, he proved he was legit as he scored a decision win over Sergiy Derevyanchenko and he expects a war against Montiel.
“I’ve been waiting patiently to get back in the ring and bring the fans another war,” said Adames. “Being in a fight like this has me motivated like never before. A win against a tough fighter like Montiel will do wonders for my career. I’ve been eager to showcase what I’ve been working on and show the fans that I’m the next middleweight star. On October 8, I’m going to get one step closer to becoming the first Dominican middleweight world champion of all time.”
Although Carlos Adames is expecting a war against Juan Macias Montiel, the Mexican is expecting him to finish Adames as he vows to put him to sleep as he doesn’t want to make the same mistake he made against Jermall Charlo.
“I made the mistake not taking it up another level against Jermall Charlo,” said Montiel. “That will never happen again. I’m thankful to my team for another great opportunity and I’m going to make the most of it. This time when Carlos Adames is hurt, and he will be, he is going to sleep. I learned my lesson about letting opponents escape.”
