Eddie Hearn Shares Prediction For Potential Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk Fight: ‘I Just Think He’s So Good’
Eddie Hearn has shared his prediction for the potential mega-fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
After Fury beat Dillian Whyte, he said he would be retiring but on social media has since come out of retirement and re-retired. Yet, after Usyk beat Joshua in the rematch in Saudi Arabia, Fury said he wants the fight and gave them seven days to make it happen.
If the fight happens, it would be a massive fight – and one of the biggest fights in boxing in recent memory. Many would lean toward Fury getting his hand raised, but Hearn think Usyk would actually win as he is too good for Fury but he also expects the fight to be a boring one.
“I would favour Oleksandr Usyk in that fight,” said Hearn when speaking on The DAZN Boxing Show. “I just think he’s so good. They’re both very intelligent fighters. It’s actually not a very good fight to watch but it’s an intriguing fight to watch. Tyson Fury doesn’t want to fight Usyk, but he may have to because the money is so big.”
Whether or not the fight will actually happen is to be seen but it is a fight that both men have said they want.
“For all these suitors out there that want to make the fight, I’m going to give you all seven days until September 1st to come up with the money, if not thank you very much, it’s been a blast, I’m retired,” Fury said. “All offers submitted must be to my lawyer in writing with proof of funds, so let the games begin.”
Usyk, meanwhile, also made it known he wants the bout to happen.
“I’m sure that Tyson Fury is not retired yet,” Usyk told the crowd through a ringside interpreter when asked about a potential clash. “I am convinced he wants to fight me. I want to fight him. And if I’m not fighting Tyson Fury, I’m not fighting at all.”
