Jermaine Franklin Believes He Got ‘Robbed’ Against Dillian Whyte, Hopeful For Rematch
Jermaine Franklin believes he should’ve gotten his hand raised against Dillian Whyte.
Franklin and Whyte fought at the OVO Arena Wembley in London on Saturday and many expected Whyte to cruise to a win. Yet, that is far from what happened as it was a competitive fight and when it went to the scorecards, many thought Franklin should’ve won.
However, it was Whyte who got his hand raised by majority decision, which Franklin disagrees with.
“I mean, I felt like I got robbed,” Franklin said in post-fight interview in the ring. “I felt like I done enough to [win], to [get] the decision. I felt like I won the earlier rounds, so you know, I just felt like I got robbed on the decision.”
If Franklin got his hand raised, it would’ve been the biggest win of his career. Now, he hopes the two can rematch and Franklin can get a full camp for the rematch and prove he is the better boxer than Whyte.
“I mean, I had a seven-week camp. I did what I what I could,” Franklin said. “You know, I’m down for a rematch if they’ll give it to me. You know, but like I said, I felt like I won. I felt like I got robbed on the decision.”
Even though Jermaine Franklin did not win, he believes he proved a lot of people wrong and silenced a lot of doubters. He hopes this proves he belongs among the heavyweight best but is still disappointed he doesn’t have the win on his record.
“I mean, I proved a lot of people wrong,” Franklin said. “You know, I prove people wrong every day. This what we do. A lot of people just look and they judge, but a lot of people won’t have the heart to step in here and fight me.”
