Derek Chisora Believes He Beat Oleksandr Usyk, Hopes For Fair Judging In Tyson Fury Fight
Derek Chisora is making it clear he wants fair judging and refs for his upcoming title fight against Tyson Fury.
Chisora is set to fight Fury on Saturday as he looks to become the new WBC heavyweight champion. The Brit is coming off a split-decision win over Kubrat Pulev which snapped his three-fight losing skid. To kick off the losing streak, he dropped a decision to Oleksandr Usyk, which he still disagrees with.
According to Chisora, he believes he clearly won that fight so is worried about the judges in the Fury fight. With that, he says he wants fair judging and a fair ref for the Fury fight.
“Let’s all be honest – on the Usyk fight, I was winning,” Chisora said (via BoxingScene). “I won that fight. I knocked him down, they didn’t give it to me. You know, this is a problem. You know, and I just hope for this fight on December 3rd that it will be fair judging and a fair ref. You know, because there’s so much going on in this camp for me, you know, I don’t want people to be biased. I just want people to come in with an open mind and be fair. You know, because I know for a fact I’m not coming to lay down. And he’s not coming to lay down, so we just want it to be – I just want it to be fair, basically.”
Derek Chisora (33-12), as mentioned, beat Pulev last time out and prior to that, he suffered back-to-back decision losses to Joseph Parker while also dropping a decision to Usyk. The 38-year-old holds notable wins over Carlos Takam, Kevin Johnson, Sam Sexton, and Malik Scott among others. He has also fought Fury twice as he lost by decision in 2011 for his first career loss and in 2014 by stoppage.
