Oleksandr Usyk Not Bothered By Tyson Fury’s Insults In Lead-Up To Potential Fight
Oleksandr Usyk isn’t going to let Tyson Fury‘s insults and trash talk impact him.
Usyk and Fury have been linked to fighting one another since they both became champions. Yet, it has yet to come to fruition, but the hope is it will happen in 2023.
Since they have been linked to fighting one another, Fury has been vocal in trash-talking Usyk but the former cruiserweight champ won’t let that impact him. Instead, he says all he cares about is what will happen in the ring and he is confident in his skills.
“Someone says it’s better to not understand what Fury’s saying,” Usyk said in a video posted on his YouTube channel, USYK17 (via BoxingScene). “But I understand everything. I just don’t pay any attention. Such a thing (trash-talking affecting his training) doesn’t motivate me. Fury’s hurling insults at me, but I know what to do in the ring. If I pay attention to anybody who’s trying to offend me I will feed my anger. Rage doesn’t help when fighting, otherwise it worsens the condition.”
If the fight happens, Usyk has a ton of confidence he will get his hand raised and shock the world by handing Fury his first loss.
“I’m motivated by an opportunity to fight this giant,” Usyk said of Fury. “Though there are some people who are not so optimistic in their assessment of my chances, it has no matter for me. I’m doing my job, I choose my way as a samurai does. The way consists of many objectives, but the essence is your way you have to make.”
Oleksandr Usyk is coming off back-to-back wins over Anthony Joshua to become the heavyweight champ and as of right now, he does not have his next fight booked. However, he does hope his next fight will be against Fury.
