Gervonta Davis Expects To Be In A Real Fight Against Hector Luis Garcia: ‘He Looks A Little Hungry’

Gervonta Davis has made it clear he is not overlooking Hector Luis Garcia.

Davis and Garcia are set to fight on January 7 at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. on Showtime pay-per-view. The fight is viewed as a tuneup given the fact Davis is already booked to fight Ryan Garcia next if he wins. However, Davis plans to not overlook Luis Garcia as he knows this will be a real fight.

“I ain’t gonna lie. He looks a little hungry. A lot of people overlook him, but I ain’t trying to overlook him. He looks like he’s ready. And it could be a life changer for him. You know what I mean? He wants to take my spot. So I’m definitely not looking past him. I’m in a real fight. January 7 is going to be a crazy night,” Davis said on an episode of the Showtime series “All Access” (via BoxingScene).

Entering the fight, Gervonta Davis is now 28-years-old and has been considered a top prospect for years due to his affiliation with Floyd Mayweather. Yet, he says he is not a kid anymore and has changed his attention to boxing only and is confident that will lead to success.

“I’m made for this. I’m here for a reason, for sure. The only person that can break me is myself,” Davis said. “I’m not a kid anymore. I’m taking my priorities seriously. These things matter. We’re happy but deep down inside there’s more to accomplish. That’s how I feel as a fighter. Our job is never done. I want it all.”

Davis enters this fight on January 7 coming off a TKO win over Rolly Romero back in May to improve to 27-0 as a pro.
