Dillian Whyte Frustrated He Jermaine Franklin Got The Anthony Joshua Fight: ‘I Would Have Been Better Off Losing The Franklin Fight’
Dillian Whyte is disappointed Jermaine Franklin is getting the Anthony Joshua fight, not him.
Whyte edged out a decision over Franklin back in November and many expected that win to get him the Joshua fight. However, Eddie Hearn recently revealed Joshua’s opponent will likely be Franklin. Whyte, of course, beat Franklin by decision back in November, feels like he got shafted.
“I am all right but facing the usual bollocks,” Whyte told The Sun. “I just want to make some fights but it’s f—ing frustrating. Everyone was told, all the boxing fans, the winner of me and Franklin fights AJ, so this is a f—ed up thing. I would have been better off losing the Franklin fight and getting the AJ fight.”
Dillian Whyte has tried to figure out why Hearn and Joshua might have picked Franklin but can’t come up with a logical reason. He also doesn’t see it doing well for DAZN as not many know who Franklin is.
“I know DAZN need content for their subscribers but why choose to fight a low-profile American coming off a loss instead of having a massive British tear-up?” added Whyte. “It’s no surprise to me that they have chosen April 1 for this battle of the fools. I faced Franklin, the most dangerous and undefeated version of him, and beat him.”
Ultimately, Whyte believes Hearn and Joshua selected Franklin because it’s an easy fight for Joshua to win and get his hand raised and return to the win column.
“It’s protecting AJ because they all know if he loses again he will probably jack it in and a lot of people will be left with limp d—s in their hands,” Whyte said.
Are you surprised Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua picked Jermaine Franklin as their next opponent?
