Shakur Stevenson Claims Devin Haney Will Be Easy Work: ‘I’m Gonna Smoke Him’
Shakur Stevenson thinks Devin Haney is easy work for him.
Stevenson became the mandatory challenger for the winner of Haney vs. Vasyl Lomachenko following his sixth-round stoppage win over Shuichiro Yoshino. Before the fight, he already thought Haney would beat Lomachenko and would then move up to fight at 140lbs.
Yet, Haney revealed he wouldn’t just fight Stevenson for the WBC belt – which he is the mandatory for – he would make it for the undisputed titles which Stevenson is pleased with.
“Tell him come on,” Stevenson told a group of reporters after he stopped Yoshino. “If that’s what he wanna do, I mean, I don’t know why would he watch [the Youshino fight] and say that? I never seen Devin Haney really even hurt anybody before. He ain’t really got the punching power, so if he watched that he could tell that I could punch. I don’t know what would make him say, ‘Let’s do it.’ Maybe he’s just a competitor. Maybe I just gotta respect that.”
If Devin Haney does get past Vasyl Lomachenko and faces him, Shakur Stevenson is confident he wouldn’t just beat Haney but would beat him with ease. He thinks it’s a really easy fight for him and would prove to everyone just how good he is.
“He’s gonna smoke Lomachenko,” Stevenson said. “But he gonna be drained coming back to fight me, and that’s gonna be ugly… I think it’s gonna be easy work. I think I’m gonna smoke him. I think I’m gonna shock everybody by smoking him, making it a real easy fight. Everybody’s gonna be like, ‘Damn, dude is who he say he is.”
Before that fight can happen though, Stevenson will need to beat Lomachenko next month.
Do you think Shakur Stevenson would beat Devin Haney as easily as he says?
