Regis Prograis Believes He Has To Get Back Into The Gym To Work On Things After Split Decision Win
Regis Prograis is disappointed with his split decision win over Danielito Zorrilla on Saturday.
Prograis was defending his WBC 140-pound title in his hometown in New Orleans, Louisana against Zorilla. Many expected Prograis to win with ease, but that wasn’t the case as the bout was back-and-forth and when the final bell rang, many thought it could go either way.
Ultimately, it was Prograis who won a split decision, but he said he was disappointed with the way Zorilla fought.
“We definitely have to go back to the gym and work on some things,” Prograis admitted to DAZN’s Chris Mannix in the ring (h/t BoxingScene). “He ran. He was just trying to survive. He was strong so I thought he would throw (more) punches but he just ran around. It was kind of hard to get to him.”
Although Prograis thinks Zorilla just ran the entire fight, many fans were disappointed that he didn’t go after the challenger and cut him off. Instead, both men were fine with limited action, which is why Prograis thinks he needs to work on some things.
However, Regis Prograis is just happy to get the win and glad he got to fight and win in front of his hometown.
“It was a tough win,” noted Prograis. “I felt like I deserved the win. Just to see the people in my backyard, I’m glad I brought it back. But I got to work on some things for sure.”
With the victory, Prograis improved to 29-1 and is now riding a five-fight win streak. Also on the win streak, he holds notable wins over Jose Zepeda and Ivan Redkach among others.
