Vasyl Lomachenko’s Manager Calls For Rematch With Devin Haney
Vasyl Lomachenko’s manager Egis Klimas is hoping to secure his client a rematch against Devin Haney.
Lomachenko and Haney fought back in May and it was Haney who won a controversial decision, in a fight many thought Lomachenko should have won. Since then, there has been no talk of a rematch but Klimas says they do hope a rematch is next but doubt that will be the case.
“Do we want to get a rematch? Of course we do,” Klimas told Boxing News. “Are we going to get it? Most likely not. Because Haney already knows who he fought. Did Vasiliy win that fight? Yes he did, 100%. But unfortunately, the judges—I can’t say corrupt—but they see a different [fight] than what we saw. Everybody knows who won that fight. Everybody knows that Loma won that fight. Is [Haney] gonna give him a rematch? I don’t believe.”
Although Vasyl Lomachenko’s manager hopes to get a rematch with Devin Haney, if it doesn’t happen they are uncertain what is next. Instead, the focus remains on Haney and hopefully getting the rematch.
“Right now we’re looking at possibilities of getting rematch [with Haney],” Klimas said. “As Loma said, he has some unfinished business to do in that weight class.”
If the Devin Haney rematch doesn’t happen, one fight that could happen is Vasyl Lomachenko taking on Shakur Stevenson. Yet, for now, they will wait and hope the Haney rematch does come to fruition.
