Oleksandr Usyk’s Promoter Says This Version Of Tyson Fury Isn’t The One They Want To Beat
Alexander Krassyuk, the promoter of Oleksandr Usyk says this version of Tyson Fury isn’t the one they want to beat.
Fury and Usyk were in talks to fight earlier this year, but it never came to fruition. Instead, Fury ended up boxing Francis Ngannou on Saturday in Saudi Arabia in what many felt was a tune-up fight for the Brit.
However, Tyson Fury did not look good as Francis Ngannou dropped him and nearly beat the Brit. Yet, in the end, it was Fury who won by split decision, and now, Krassyuk says that Fury isn’t the one that Usyk wants to beat.
“He didn’t treat the guy seriously,” Krassyuk said to SecondsOut. “His performance last night does not show us anything serious for our fight with Usyk. It means that Usyk should not look at this Tyson Fury because this version of Tyson Fury is not the one that we want to beat. We want a different Tyson Fury. We want him to take rest, to work and to come back at his top. That’s the guy we want to beat. This version we had last night is a sin to fight with a man like that.”
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were expected to fight on Dec. 23, but the bout has now been moved to February after Fury suffered some cuts in his bout against Francis Ngannou.
Delaying the fight was disappointing news for Krassyuk and many fans, but the good news is the two will be fighting early next year.
Oleksandr Usyk enters the matchup coming off a controversial KO win over Daniel Dubois. Prior to that, he had back-to-back wins over Anthony Joshua to become the heavyweight champion. He’s also the former undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world.
