UFC 300: Unveiling the Details and Fight Card
With UFC 296 coming as the last pay-per-view event of 2023, and the main cards for UFC 297, 298, and 299 all announced, UFC 300 stands as the biggest question mark of the 2024 calendar. Since it represents such an obvious historic milestone, rumors have been swirling around the potential main card and main event matchup – which have only been stoked by UFC CEO Dana White expressing on multiple occasions plans to schedule a “superfight” sometime next annum.

When will UFC 300 take place?
Ahead of UFC 296, it was confirmed UFC 300 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena on April 13. next.. With Las Vegas, Nevada as a backdrop, we know this fight card could very well be of epic proportions, but with many popular fighters booked or injured around this time, fans and pundits are wondering who exactly the UFC have in mind for the main card – and main event bracket. And in our opinion, there’s one massive name that makes a bit too much sense.
Who could headline UFC 300?
It’s hard to think of a UFC fighter with more widespread commercial appeal than Conor McGregor. And a triumphant return at UFC 300 would line up perfectly with his recovery from a fractured leg suffered against Dustin Poirier during his last fight more than two years ago.
The return of perhaps the most famous fighter on the planet would certainly check Dana White’s ‘superfight’ box, but he’ll also need an opponent that can live up to the massive hype of this monumental event.
Right now, there are two main candidates that make sense: Michael Chandler, who recently got into a heated exchange with WWE veteran, Ric Flair, according to Overtime Heroics, and past-foe, Dustin Poirier.
Chandler, a UFC veteran and former lightweight championship challenger, was opposite McGregor as dueling coaches in the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter earlier this year. The two were supposed to face off as part of the finale earlier this year, but the highly anticipated fight hasn’t happened yet.
Chandler has been vocal about the opportunity of fighting McGregor, and it would make a lot of sense for him to be the one to welcome the Irish star back to the Octagon in 2024.
But, the more interesting name, especially from the fan’s perspective, has to be Dustin Poirier. A UFC legend in his own right, Poirier was the one who knocked McGregor out of commission back in 2021, and a stunning fourth fight between the two talented rivals could bring the type of ratings bonanza that White and co. are certainly looking for at UFC 300 next year.
We’re leaning towards Poirier as the more likely option, but either fight would be an incredible can’t-miss spectacle, that’s for sure.
The Waiting Game
While Conor McGregor’s return at UFC 300 just makes too much sense, we’re still in wait-and-see-mode at this point. The only thing we can say for sure for now is that on April 13. we can expect some sort of highly anticipated main card and event headliner from the leading mixed martial arts outfit.
