Promoter Won’t Push For Tyson Fury vs. Daniel Dubois

Frank Warren

Frank Warren says he won’t push for a potential bout between Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois as he says it will put him in an awkward position.

Dubois scored a stunning fifth-round knockout over Joshua on Saturday to pull off the upset. It was a surprising performance, and after the win, many thought Dubois would face the winner of Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk next.

However, given that Fury and Dubois are both promoted by Warren, he says he won’t push for that.

“It’s not something I would push for. If there’s an offer made that makes a lot of sense then that’s up to them,” Warren said (via ESPN).

Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua, meanwhile, has pushed for a rematch with Dubois. Warren says he is open to that if that is what makes sense.

“They can have it if they want it anyway,” Warren said. “I think that’s something to be considered. Absolutely, anything is on the table. We’ll work and see what’s the best thing for Daniel. We’re in the Daniel Dubois business, the IBF business and we’ll see what’s best.”

Although Hearn wants the rematch between Joshua and Dubois, Dubois says his focus is on Usyk and Fury. But, the hope for Warren is a bout against Fury doesn’t happen.

“They all said I was going to get knocked out, we all saw who got knocked out. I’m glad I proved everyone wrong, but this is the start of my journey,” Dubois said. “They [Fury and Usyk] are my targets now; I want to get my rematch [against Usyk] and put the wrong right. I feel like the champ, I’m going to keep this belt and keep this train running.”

With the upset win over Joshua, Dubois is now 22-2 as a pro and riding a three-fight winning streak. Also on the win streak, he beat Filip Hrgovic by TKO and Jarrel Miller by TKO.
