Gervonta Davis remains betting favorite to beat Vasiliy Lomachenko in potential future title fight

Amid heavy links to a potential lightweight title fight in the coming months if not next year, WBA lightweight kingpin, Gervonta Davis remains an impressive betting favorite to beat current IBF lightweight gold holder, Vasiliy Lomachenko with the two on a potential collision course.

Davis, who currently boasts a stunning 30-0 professional record, most recently ran through challenger, Frank Martin back in June, landing an eight round knockout win over the challenger to successfully retain his undisputed WBA lightweight crown.

As for Ukrainian veteran, Lomachenko, the two-time Olympic gold medal winner forced a penultimate round finish against George Kambosos Jr. back in May in Australia, landing the undosptued IBF lightweight crown – returning to winning way too.

And off the back of the victory, talk of a super fight between Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko was rife, with the former drawing current odds of -230 to beat the Ukraine native, who is drawing a +184 betting odds as an underdog – with betting available for fans and players over at https://melbet-az.pro/.

However, as recently as July, reports claimed that despite brokering deep talks to meet inside the ring, a potential fight between Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko had hit the skids, with the latter’s manager adding credence to the claims, confirming how his client is unmotivated to compete again.

“Loma (Vasiliy Lomachenko) is not in the mood right now,” Egis Klimas explained. “He doesn’t have the motivation at the moment. He’s taking off – he wants to spend more time with the family. With Loma, just money is not what motivates him. He doesn’t take anything just because of money. You can offer him millions, tens of millions of dollars – if he doesn’t have motivation, he’s not ready to prepare for the fight.”

And amid the potential fight between Davis and Lomachenko falling to the wayside in recent weeks, the current WBA lightweight champion is potentially gearing up for an end-of-year return against WBA super featherweight titleholder, Lamont Roach – who is currently a promotional free agent.

Enjoying a speculative run to the top of boxing, Baltimore native, Gervonta Davis was involved in a high-profile non-title fight with the outspoken, Ryan Garcia last year in April – handing the Californian his first professional loss in the form of an eight round body shot knockout win in Las Vegas.

Boasting an impressive 28 professional knockout victories, Gervonta Davis has also landed triumphs over the likes of Liam Walsh, Francisco Fonseca, Yuriokis Gamboa, Leo Santa Cruz, Rolando Romero, and Hector Garcia to name a few.

A decorated amateur boxer and two-time Olympic gold medal winner in boxing, Lomachenko has enjoyed an impressive run in the professional game since his transition back in 2013, landing an 18-3 professional record.

Dropping defeats to Orlando Salido, Teofimo Lopez, and Devin Haney, Lomachenko has managed to turn in impressive title fight victories over the likes of Guillermo Rigondeaux, Jorge Linares, Anthony Crolla, Luke Campbell, Richard Commey, and the above-mentioned, Kambosos Jr. – continuing his success in the professional squared circle.
