Oleksandr Usyk remains big betting favorite to beat Tyson Fury in December rematch
Off the back of his dominant decision win over Tyson Fury back in May, ahead of their end-of-year rematch, Oleksandr Usyk remains a big betting favorite to once more defeat the Brit heavyweight as the weeks wind down to their second battle in the desert.
Usyk, who headlined a monstrous card in Riyadh earlier this year with then-undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, Fury handed the Morecambe native his first-ever professional loss in a decision – albeit split win over his rival in rather one-sided fashion.

And set to do battle once again in December just a week before Christmas, Oleksandr Usyk is a current -175 betting favorite to beat former world champion, Tyson Fury – with the British puncher a current +150 betting underdog for fans who are looking to bet at Irish bookmakers ahead of the tangle in Saudi Arabia.
Improving his unbeaten record to 22-0 with his comfortable decision win over Fury, Usyk – who briefly held all heavyweight crowns off the back of their undisputed championship pairing, will look to defend his titles once more, having vacated the undisputed IBF crown – currently held by Daniel Dubois.
And ahead of the pairing in Riyadh before the close of the annum, Ukraine fan-favorite, Oleksandr Usyk issued a warning that if Fury withdraws or delays a rematch between the duo as planned in December, there will be significant “consequences”.
“No way, because the ball’s in our court now,” Oleksandr Usyk said. “He (Tyson Fury) has a contract and so do I until December 31st. We have to hold this fight up to and including [that date]. If he pulls out December 21st., he will lose all of his money and dividends and won’t be a man of his word anymore.”
Himself offering his own prediction for their December pairing having failed to topple Usyk earlier this annum, Fury claimed that in order to find success and avenge his sole professional loss, he will most likely have to knock out the world champion when they clash again.
“I believe i have to knock him (Oleksandr Usyk) out,” Tyson Fury told Queensberry Promotions of his rematch title fight in December. “So I’ve got to – that’s my way to victory. The other night when I got asked about the (Anthony) Joshua and (Daniel) Dubois [fight], they said how does each fighter win? And I said, for Dubois, he’s got to get out of the blocks fast and hurt him and get him out of there within five-six rounds, and that’s exactly what he did. So, that’s my way to victory.”
Since his move to the heavyweight limit back in 2020, former cruiserweight world champion, Usyk has turned in an impressive run of five straight wins – defeating the veteran, Derek Chisora before title fight triumphs over Anthony Joshua twice – and recent big-winner, Dubois, before his May success against Morecambe veteran, Fury.
With his split decision loss to Usyk, polarizing puncher, Fury saw his spectacular thirty five fight unbeaten run throughout his professional record come to a crashing halt to boot.
